A rupture disk is a pressure safety device that changes from a perfect seal to a full open vent in a fraction of a second. Since 1931, BS&B Safety Systems has been calibrating membranes manufactured from precision metal foils to achieve a predetermined burst pressure was born.
Buckling Pin technology offers an accurate and reliable means of calibrating pressure relief devices. BS&B has developed the BPRV™ Buckling Pin Relief Valve for in-line pressure or vacuum relief offering quick and simple external resetting. The BPRV is suitable for both gas and liquid applications, and provides a full relief opening at a pre-determined set pressure.
Each Burst Alert Sensor® is designed to operate in a “normally closed” electrical circuit. A polymer membrane is used to support an electrical conducting circuit. When the pressure event (disk rupture/valve opening) occurs, the flow of fluid places the polymer membrane in tension which leads to the break of a tantalum electrical conductor. This changes the electrical status of the sensor to “normally open.”
